Bring along a lorry

Background: Only one traffic light remains between Larne Harbour and Cork and the Department for Regional Development intended to spend £130m to remove the red light on the Westlink at York Street. INTERCHANGE; a project and exhibition held in the Golden Thread Gallery in 2011 lobbied to effect the preferred solution; an underpass. On 6th December 2012 the Minister for Regional Development, Danny Kennedy, announced the preferred option as an underpass. Lorries would not trundle through our city at 18m, the height of St Annes Cathedral front. To celebrate the decision and to update on INTERCHANGE we invite you to LORRY DAY.

The 6th December is also ‘Nicklaus Tag’ on which children in many European countries receive gifts. All are asked to bring along a lorry. Corgi, Dinki, Wooden or
Plastic – all will be donated to The Belfast Childrens Hospice.
