The Summer School 2010 was held around North Belfast and the University of Ulster. The theme was ‘talkoot’, a Finnish word that means coming together to collaborate on a common task. The study area has many current projects, most of them using public money, and there is a need to bring these projects into a common plan for mutual benefit and moreover to avoid the mistakes of past bad planning.
The results of the school culminated in the ‘6 Links‘ concept: six streets which should be reclaimed and rebuilt as coherent, people–friendly connectors in the city. The work was published in January 2011 and was exhibited as part of the ‘Inter–change: Sharing the Urban Agenda’ exhibition in the Golden Thread Gallery in May 2011.
